In 2008 ACT divers will put mats on more than an acre of the lake bottom.  This will make big inroads to the milfoil beds in several places.   nd the same divers will hand harvest several thousand feet of shoreline where the beds are not so prolific.  ACT will also have EnViroScience study whether we should plan to put more weevils in the lake in 2009.  The combination of matting, hand harvesting and weevil augmentation, if carried out over the next few years, may establish a long-term control over milfoil in our lake.

 

The first few years will take a lot of money, and a lot of volunteer labor.  ACT members are applying for grants and other financial aid for 2008, but in the first few years we are going to come up short.  We need help from YOU - a lot of help.  The Town has committed $7,500 - The Lake Luzerne Association $2,500 more.  We'll still be at least $10,000 to $15,000 short.  Please help save our lake!
